Pramiracetam Review – A New “Racetam” Nootropic

Becoming smarter is a goal for many people. People everywhere put lots of hard work into studying for exams, only to get a grade they didn’t want. Specifically, pramiracetam belongs in the “racetam” group with nootropics such as piracetam, aniracetam, and oxiracetam. Of the “racetam” group, piracetam was the first, and was created back in the 1960’s to treat people who’s memory and intelligence were decimated because of different forms of dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease. It uses don’t end there; piracetam was later discovered to improve the memory and intelligence of perfectly healthy young adults also. Plenty of people whom have taken nootropics such as piracetam and pramiracetam can speak for their benefits. Scientific research backs these claims as well.

Nootropics all work differently. I could write hundreds of pages piracetam on the specifics of how each one works. Luckily, many of them do share one type of action. Nootropics manipulate different neurotransmitters. You brain needs these neurotransmitters to communicate different actions to various neurons and cells.For example, when you feel really good after winning a game, or having sex, that is your brain secreting serotonin and dopamine. Take away all your neurotransmitters and your brain can’t give any orders at all, leaving you brain dead. Like every function in your brain, memory retrieval and problem solving are controlled by different neurotransmitters.


ACh is an important transmitter involved in your brain’s synaptic plasticity. This means ACh is vital for your brain’s ability to form and strengthen new connection between neurons. If your brain were to lose its ability to change these connections, you would lose your ability to create new memories. Research into synaptic plasticity has revealed that it is closely tied to your working memory and fluid intelligence. If you want to have a rock solid memory and good problem solving skills, you need a plastic brain.

Picture it like this. Your working memory allows you to store bites and pieces of information for a short amount of time. In theory, someone who could store more parts to a problem more clearly, would have an easier time solving a problem.
